When I decided to write this page, I doubted whether anyone needed another daily devotional to add to the thousands that are available and in use today. I heard that still small voice, and am directed to add to the devotional listings. Along with daily golf tips, we also need direction for our souls. To ponder and meditate on things spiritual, will heal us and point us in the direction of spirit.
The difference will be that this is not a “daily” writing, I have found through my years of working these steps that working on one thing for a week rather than something different everyday, helped me understand and internalize the message, and this in turn produced better results. We have enough clutter distracting us, and if I read something today and go my merry way, the prayer and the meditation is only good for a day. We must be fed for a life time, and that comes from practicing these principles, which lead us to live these principles.
We seek peace of mind in all our affairs not just on the golf course. I stated that the 12 Steps is the road map to a happier and more joyous way of life, golf is the vehicle. We are dealing with more than just golf, and I do not want to limit anyone who is not a golfer to be dissuaded from pursuing this 12 Step program, for it is a way of life for everyone. I am hoping that the non-golfer will also be inclined to pursue these steps and integrate them into their life and find the promises for themselves.
These prayers and meditations will be from my own journals or from someone‘s question during any given week. We have discussed the importance of journalizing and hopefully many of you are now writing.
I hope that my take on recovery and healing will help in the pursuit of any self help program one may find themselves. To see things differently and shed some light on what others may be saying.
WEEK FORTY FOUR
From The Secret Daily Teachings
When a big change occurs in your life it forces you to change direction. Sometimes the new path may not be easy, but you can be absolutely certain that there is magnificence for you on the new path. You can be absolutely certain that the new path contains things that you could not have experienced otherwise.
When we look back at a negative event that occurred in the past, we often see how in fact it transformed our life. We see how that event directed us toward a life that we would not change for anything.
May the joy be with you,

WEEK FORTY THREE
"If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not have lived in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin into his nest again, I shall not live in vain.....Emily Dickinson
The gift of attention to each other is "passing on" the love of God. In order to feel love, we have to give it away. We will know love when we give love.
Our attachment to the world, the sense of belonging most of us have longed for, awaits us, is showered upon us even as we reach out to someone else. We are no longer alone, scared, alienated when we let others know they are not alone, We can heal one another.
Each day, each one of us can ease the pain of another. Our own pain is relieved in the process of easing the pain of another. Love is the balm, loving others makes our lives purposeful.
No day is lived in vain, if I but cherish someone else's presence.

WEEK FORTY TWO
REFLECTIONS FROM "The Golfer's Tee Time Devotional"
The world is full of promises and possibilities as we experience the joy of a personal relationship with God.
But living a life of faith can be challenging. We should not get so caught up in the struggle of faith that we fail to see the beauty of the place where God has placed us.
He has blessed us richly.
Even though we may be facing the most difficult "shot" of our life, with our faith on the line, we can still step back, look around at all the God has blessed us with, and realize that we are in a place of of magnificent beauty, prepared for us by God Himself.
when my path gets difficult, and the challenges seem more than I can bear, help me to see the beauty of where I am.
The joy of realizing how blessed I am is my encouragement.
Remind me that occasionally I need to step back, take a deep breath, perhaps just stop for a moment to realize where I am because of Your love for me.
The beauty I see on the golf course is a reminder of Your majesty and power. Help me to remember that the God Who created this venue is the same God Who created a new heart in me.
As I consider the beauty of my surroundings, may I come to understand even more how much You care for me.

WEEK FORTY ONE
Meditation for the Day
In these times of quiet meditation, try more and more to set your hopes on the grace of God. Know that whatever the future may hold, it will hold more and more of good. Do not set all your hopes and desires on material things. There is weariness in an abundance of things. Set your hopes on spiritual things so that you may grow spiritually. Learn to rely on God's power more and more and in that reliance you will have an insight into the greater value of the things of the spirit.
I pray that material things may not overwhelm me. I pray that I may realize the higher value of spiritual things.

"Growth is a painful process.".....Wilma Mankiller, CHEROKEE
As we grow, we usually need to let go of our attachments to our ideals. We have been told there is no gain without the pain. The pain is associated with the fear of the unknown. We are in the process loosing something we have, or we are not going to get something we want. These are the things that can cause pain. We cannot ask someone else to make our pain go away, it is between our Higher Power and ourselves. We must find our way through these lonely times ourselves, we can share with others our discomfort but our maturity depends on our relationship with our God.
guide my growth, give me love and courage to help me through the wilderness of this pain.
WEEK THIRTY NINE
".....we will be victorious if we have not forgotten how to learn.....Rosa Luxemburg
There is a character defect that still plagues me, that of “I know better”. It isn’t that I do not want to learn it is an aversion to be taught.
A willingness to discard this flaw takes effort, but in recognizing it I begin to learn and when I become “teachable” the healing can begin.
No one ever told us t@
WEEK THIRTY EIGHT
There is a difference between feeling gratitude and appreciation for something, and feeling attachment to something. Appreciation and gratitude are states of pure love, while attachment contains fear - fear of losing or not having what you are attached to. When it comes to something you want in your life, appreciation and gratitude attracts, and attachment pushes away. If you are feeling afraid that you will not get what you want, or losing what you have, then you have attachment.
To remove the attachment, keep shifting yourself into a state of appreciation and gratitude, until you can feel that the fear has gone.........Rhonda Byrne, The Secret and The Power...
Today I will pay attention to becoming attached to the people and places and things in my life....I will be grateful for the blessings You have given to me......You bring the abundance into my life.
WEEK THIRTY SEVEN
"Anything forced into manifestation through personal will is always “ill got” and has “ever bad success”.....Florence Scovel Shinn
There is always a struggle when surrendering our will to our Higher Power’s will. This does not mean we cease to exist. We have been blessed with knowledge and talent and we now grow in wisdom. Wisdom used to identify our will from God’s.
We no longer need others to play by our rules, those games of the past to gain an upper hand slip away. Our demands to control situations and people no longer hold power in our lives.
We have learned that God wants us to be happy and joyous and free. The ego tells us we need to be more like this or that to fit in, which others have placed as priorities rather than God’s will for us. We become anxious and give our wills to others.
Today we seek the serenity of God’s will and become an instrument of His peace.
I will listen to that still small voice that will guide me to do the right thing. I will tune out the clamor and not resort to the games of the past, from me nor those of others.
WEEK THIRTY SIX
".....in order to feel anything you need strength".....Anna Maria Ortese
Strength for any task, to withstand any pressure, to find the solution to any problem, is always as close as our very breath. We expend all our energy, wearing ourselves down, even getting sick from worry when we fail to turn to the source of strength that is ours for the taking.
We are offered, moment by moment, opportunities to experience the rapture of life. We have the chance to trust our senses, to turn ourselves over to the moment, knowing we can survive every experience, knowing we are guaranteed new knowledge, a greater awareness of the meaning of our own lives when we’re fully attuned to the experiences that are uniquely our own, right here, right now.
Our strength increases as we flex it, not unlike muscles. The more we turn to that greater power, the more available that source of strength becomes. With practice, it becomes habitual to let God help us withstand all pressures, solve every problem. In time, the pressures and problems seem to exist no more. We learn to let our Higher Power circumvent the difficulties in our lives. Free at last, we become free at last to feel the real joys of living.
All the strength I need to face anything that’s worrying me is at hand. I will let go and let God help me today.("Each Day a New Beginning")
