12 Step Golf, every Journey begins with the First Step

12 Step Golf begins with admittance and acceptance. You will be amazed what progress can be made with just these first 5 steps of this simple 12 Step Program,it may not be easy, but it is a simple program. You must remember that this journey is a process and nothing will work, unless you put your heart and mind on this "fairway less traveled".

Remember that the 12 Steps is based on spiritual principles, we seek to have a relationship with a Higher Power, some of us choose to call our Higher Power God, which is not ourselves, nor other people places or things.

It is never easy to admit powerlessness over these people, places or things. Can any of us make the sun shine or the wind to stop? Can we really expect anyone to act the way we think they should?

Please join us on this journey to discover powerlessness and a Higher Power, which will lead us to sanity and self discovery.

"So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit. What is contrary to the sinful nature? They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.........The acts of the sinful nature are obvious.......idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy.....But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.......Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."

Galatians 5:16-25

1. We admitted we were powerless over golf, people, places and things and our lives become unmanageable trying to control them.

"Golf Has brought many to their knees, or pretty darn close. Sometimes we want to cry or just throw something or somebody. We blame the person talking while we are putting or ready to swing. We want that perfect swing and can go to any lengths to get it. We have a love/hate relationship with golf and our games can become unmanageable."

We Surrender to Win

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

"We have allowed golf, people, places and things to become our higher powers. To find a Power Greater than these things will take away the insanity that has plagued us while trying to enjoy this silly crazy game, we call golf."

Restoration to Sanity

3. Became willing to turn our will our lives and our game over to the care of God, as we understand Him.

"This suggestion almost sounds like we are taking you on a religious path. No, we have practiced golf religiously, and we don’t preach a religion by working these steps. This is a spiritual program based on spiritual principles."

God's Care

4. Took a fearless and searching moral inventory of ourselves.

"What could we possibly gain by an inventory? The fourth step is part of the formula for peace of mind, without it, there can be no serenity. It is the key for unlocking all those demons that chatter while we are golfing."

Fearless Moral Inventory

5. Admitted to God to ourselves and another human being the exact nature of our shortcomings.

"Confession is good for the soul. We need to lay it on the line and humble ourselves to achieve success with this step. As long as we hold on to our defects, thinking they are our little secrets, we will continually find ourselves constricting our growth. Golf can bring out the best in us or the worse"

We Confessed our Wrongs

"Many people are living in an emotional jail without recognizing it."

Virginia Satir
